My Objectives
- Promote data integration and knowledge management
- Manage multi-disciplinary projects in an innovative environment
- Coach and motivate, and to become a "facilitator" that will enhance the synergy between different groups and specialities, in an environment of constant challenge.
My Profile
I have 20 years experience in managing bioinformatics data at CEPH in France (for the first large-scale sequencing project); Généthon (France), where I built the database for the DNA biobank; then at the EBI (UK) with RHdb, an international repository for RH mapping data and finally at GeneProt in Switzerland, where I built proteomics databases.
Further Details
- 2005 CRS4, Sardinia, Italy
Head of Bioinformatics service group in the Bioinformatics Programme. Creation of a new bioinformatics service to give support to Sardinian research labs. - December 2000 - 2005 GeneProt Inc, Geneva, Switzerland
Head of Data Management, Database Development and Administration Group. I coordinated all database work in the Bioinformatics Department, interacted with the other teams in the department to integrate the databases in the bioinformatics workflow. GeneProt (2000-2005) was a life-science company using the very latest developments in protein technologies to improve the quality and speed of the drug discovery and development process. - September 1994 - November 2000 European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL/EBI), Hinxton, UK
Team Leader, Research and Development. Research interest: heterogeneous data management and databases integration. During this time, my group developed the first CORBA server for a biology database (May 1997). I collaborated as a database expert with international organisations in Europe and the USA and chaired the Genomics Map Working Group in the Object Management Group - Life Science Research Task-Force. We developed and maintained the Radiation Hybrid Database, an international database for RH mapping data. I also organised and coordinated international workshops. - 1990 - August 1994 Généthon, Paris, France
Head of the Database Development and Administration Team. I developed the databases for the management of the DNA biobank. We pioneered the WWW efforts at Généthon, creating the first web server for biology in France. Généthon is a research laboratory financed by the French Muscular Dystrophy Association (AFM). - April 1987 - 1990 Centre d'Études du Polymorphisme Humain (CEPH), Paris, France
I worked there developing the applications for the first large-scale sequencing project in France. The CEPH is a research laboratory created in 1984 by Prof. Jean Dausset (Nobel Prize, Medicine and Physiology, 1980).
