MariAngeles Benítez is currently the Technical Manager of the clean room (Laboratori d'Ambient Controlat) of the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona, Spain.

She studied physics at the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona (UAB). In 1996, she obtained a PhD working on microtechnologies for the fabrication of silicon microsystems at the National Center of Microelectronics in Bellaterra, Spain. Most of her research work has been focused in solving technological problems for the fabrication of sensors and actuators with surface micromachining. Therefore, she has got a good knowledge of most of the processes involved in the fabrication of devices in microelectronics.

After she got the PhD degree, she worked in the clean room of the National Center of Microelectronics being responsible of the MultiChip Modules production area for three years. At the same time, she worked as associated teacher in the Department of Electronics of the UAB.

In 1999 she got a fixed position as Technical Manager of the Clean Room of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, a class 1000-10000 clean room laboratory where more than 60 PhD students and researchers of seven different groups and institutes in the areas of material sciences, microelectronics, nanotechnology and synchrotron light work in self-service access mode.

Although this position meant interrupting her own research, she is in direct contact every day with the researchers that require using this installation.
