How to fund and manage your career
in Science, Engineering and Technology (SET)
University of Novi Sad
Faculty of Science
The Lecture Hall (or Amphitheater) A1
Trg Dositeja Obradovica 3
21000 Novi Sad, Serbia
The conference will be held in English.
Invited international speakers from science, engineering and technology (SET) in academia and industry will talk about their career paths and their experience with funding at various levels, from postgraduate studies to funding for their research groups, professorships or technology companies. The conference is aimed at university students and researchers from all levels of industry and academia. The international guests will be available to answer your questions in several open discussions.
The conference is organised by the SET-Routes Programme, which is an EU-funded project aiming to address problems encountered by women in science, engineering and technology (SET) throughout Europe. The profile of women in science is exacerbated by the lack and invisibility of women scientists in influential positions who could act as inspirational role models to attract and retain young women in scientific professions. In order to contribute to a change in this situation, SET-Routes has recruited leading women scientists from amongst staff, members, fellows and alumni of the participating institutes - EMBL, CERN and EMBO - to become SET-Routes ambassadors. SET-Routes ambassadors give lectures in universities across Europe, providing young people with insights into routes and job perspectives in SET, and information about particular growth areas within science.
In Novi Sad, the audience of up to 200 will not be exclusively female. We hope to attract students and faculty staff of the university and, through local publicity, scientists from local industry and the healthcare sector.
