Insight Lectures

The SET-Routes Insight Lectures are a series of interactive scientific lectures for use in schools. Presented by exceptional women scientists who have contributed to the series between 2007 and 2009, the lectures introduce the exciting world of Science, Engineering and Technology (SET), covering fields as diverse as space science, climate change, genetic counselling, haemochromatosis and DNA chips, malaria - a world disease, stem cells and regeneration, archaeology of the universe, and cosmology.

The speakers from all walks of science talk to young audiences about their experiences as scientists. They discuss how they came to work in their field, what they have discovered and what impact their results have on our daily lives, as well as outlining some of their more personal experiences as female scientists.

The lectures are one of the four initiatives of the SET-Routes Programme to awaken young girls' interest in science, and to encourage young women graduates to pursue careers in SET.

The Insight Lectures and additional resources are freely available. They can be streamed directly from this website or a DVD set with accompanying booklet can be obtained on request.
